The criterion that actually separates products here
Most "best toilet paper" guides rank on softness. Those guides were written for markets where paper does the whole job.
In the UAE it doesn't. Nearly every bathroom has a shattaf, so paper is used for drying — wet, every time. The property that determines whether a product works here is wet strength, and it is almost never on the packet or in the reviews. Detail in choosing toilet paper when you use a shattaf.

What's available
Regional volume brands — Fine, Sanita and similar. Widely stocked, consistent, keenly priced. Fine is a long-established Middle East hygiene group; Sanita is one of the region's largest tissue manufacturers. For most households buying on price, these are the sensible default and there's no case for spending more unless you have a specific reason to.
Bamboo brands — Bambuyu and others. UAE-based, DTC, subscription available, genuinely good environmental credentials. If sustainability is your leading criterion, this is the category to look at, and we'd point you there without hesitation. Imported European premium — Renova and similar. The originators of coloured luxury tissue. Well made, 3-ply virgin pulp, and the reason anyone thinks of black tissue at all. Usually scented, which is a real drawback if you're sensitive, and priced at import levels. If you want vivid colour — red, green, fuchsia — they're the only serious option.
Institutional and HORECA supply. Built for cost per sheet in high-traffic washrooms. Wrong for a home, but if you're specifying for a property, see specifying tissue for hospitality.
Us. Three-ply virgin pulp, unscented, engineered for wet strength and dissolution, in three neutral finishes. Built specifically for the shattaf bathroom, which is the gap we thought was worth filling.
How to choose for yourself
If you use a shattaf — prioritise wet strength. Virgin pulp, three-ply or better, and do the damp test: wet a sheet and rub it between your fingers. Thirty seconds tells you more than any review.
If sustainability leads — bamboo, and check for certification.
If price leads — a regional volume brand, and compare on total sheets rather than roll count. A 12-pack of short rolls can contain less paper than a 6-pack of long ones. The arithmetic is in how much toilet paper a household actually uses.
If you have sensitive skin — unscented, always, whatever else you decide.

Where we'd tell you not to buy from us
If your leading criterion is environmental impact, buy bamboo. If it's price, buy a regional brand — we are not competitive on cost per sheet and won't pretend to be. If you want bright colour, buy Renova.
