Fragile Sleep Mask

Sleep here is negotiated against glass. Floor-to-ceiling windows, a skyline that never fully switches off, and summer light that arrives long before you meant to be awake. Curtains help. They rarely finish the job.

This finishes it.

Padded satin, cut deep enough to sit across the brow and the cheekbone rather than pressing on the eye itself. You can blink underneath it — which is the difference between a mask you keep on and one you find on the floor at three in the morning.

The scalloped edge is stitched rather than cut, top and bottom, so the border holds its line instead of fraying into the fill. Satin rather than cotton for the ordinary reason: less drag against skin, less friction through hair, no seam pressed into your face by morning.

The script reads Dolce Far Very Much Niente. The sweet doing of very much nothing. In a city built on the opposite, it is the harder discipline.

Three colourways

Oyster — warm champagne, embroidered tonally so the lettering only catches at an angle. The quiet one, and the one that looks like nothing in particular on a nightstand.

Boudoire — pale pink with the script in sage green. The only one of the three where the writing is meant to be read.

Pacific Blue — deep blue-grey with a fine embossed texture and champagne lettering. Reads closest to something borrowed from menswear, and the one that photographs best.

Care

Hand wash cool, reshape damp, dry flat and away from direct sun. Satin does not forgive a tumble dryer.
